About To My Ships
To My Ships began with the simple observation that the world smells. Sometimes pleasantly, more often in ways that are artificial and overpowering - with the art of nuance increasingly overwhelmed by wasteful design and overworked fragrances.
Intent on providing antidotes to this overload, the company offers personal care products borne of a light, restrained approach. All are formulated with responsibly sourced, naturally derived ingredients, in the manner of the finest traditional perfumes.
Packaging is manufactured primarily from 100 per cent post-consumer recycled aluminium and predominantly recycled glass, and designed with great care to effect the lightest possible footprint.
In the interests of simplicity and reduced landfill, the range includes generous refills for deodorants and hand and body wash; and containers are designed to encourage long-term reuse.
Milan-based studio Formafantasma, exemplars of holistic design thinking and leaders in contextual research across historical, sociopolitical and ecological domains, played an integral role in shaping the company's approach to all aspects of design, establishing the uncompromising standards of material integrity, restraint and long-term responsibility that define the brand.
To My Ships takes inspiration from the ancient Greek epic poem The Iliad, attributed to Homer, drawing on its implicit, ever-resonant advocacy for calm, civilised living. The title 'To My Ships' is an excerpt from the poem, as are the titles of the company's range and products.
